PhD Comprehensive Examination
The comprehensive examination will normally take place no later than the end of the 7th semester in the doctoral program. The purpose of this examination will be to test, in both written and oral forms, the specific, broad and general knowledge of the student in the program of study. The examination will be conducted by a committee consisting of the Associate Dean - Graduate Studies (Medicine), the supervisor and not less than three other members. The members of the comprehensive examining committee will be recommended by the supervisor, with the assistance of the supervisory committee. The Office of Research and Graduate Studies will contact the potential examiners and recommend to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies members of the examination board. The final appointment of examiners will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies.
