Research

Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) provides information and services on research for the Faculty of Medicine.  RGS and its Vice Dean work closely with faculty, and with the Associate Deans of Basic Medical Sciences and Community Health & Humanities, the Chairs of the Clinical Disciplines, as well as with individuals in the Patient Research Centre of Eastern Health and the Research Initiatives & Services office to coordinate the submission of grant applications, approve contracts, open research accounts, coordinate ethics approval and distribute information on funding opportunities.

The Vice Dean, Research and Graduate Studies, is the signing authority for all research-related activities in the Faculty of Medicine, including grant applications,  research accounts, and research contracts.

RGS sponsors a monthly lunchtime seminar series, annual Research Days, and the Gairdner Lecture.

The Vice Dean represents the Faculty on research-related activities of the University and is an ex officio member of the Research and Development Committee, the Board of the Medical Research Foundation, and the Human Investigation Committee.

The Vice Dean is a member of the Research and Graduate Studies Committee of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada.
