Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research Grant

The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to announce the launch of the 2024 Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research Grant as described below. The application deadline for the competition will be: Oct. 17th, 2024
 
Purpose of the Fund
The primary purpose of this research fund is foster the development of collaborative clinical and non-clinical research projects in the Faculty of Medicine.  It is to support one $30,000 operating grant to be awarded to a research team consisting of at least two FoM members (one clinical and one non-clinical) for a multi- and/or inter-disciplinary research project project.

Eligibility

Nominated Principal Investigator (NPI) and Co-PI must be full or part-time faculty members within the Faculty of Medicine (includes jointly appointed faculty, but not cross appointed faculty).  Unspent funds will be returned to the Collaborative Research Fund if the NPI is no longer a full- or part-time member of the Faculty of Medicine (unless responsibilities are transferred to a Co-PI who is a faculty member in the Faculty of Medicine).
 
Additionally, applicants are not able to apply to the Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research Grant as well as the MRF Fall 2024 competition with the same application.

  • Review information.

The 6 page application makes use of the MRF Application Form. Please note that for this competition, unlike the MRF, both the Nominated PI and the Co-PI are required to have a CIHR formatted CCV.

2023 Competition

The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to announce that the successful recipient of the 2023 Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research grant is Dr. Ken Hirasawa (NPI). Drs. Ken Hirasawa and John Thoms were awarded $30,000 for their application entitled “Radiotherapy and inflammatory cell death” and we wish them every success with this exciting endeavour.

2022 Competition

The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to announce that the successful recipient of the 2022 Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research grant is Dr. Jessica Esseltine (NPI). Drs. Jessica Esseline, Stephen Duffett, and Kathleen Hodgkinson were awarded $30,000 for their application entitled “Two serious cardiac disease-causing mutations together result in no disease phenotype. Serendipitous modifiers?” and we wish them every success with this exciting research collaboration.

2021 Competition

The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to announce that the successful recipient of the 2021 Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research grant is Dr. Laurie Twells (NPI). Drs. Laurie Twells, Deanna Murphy, Sean Murphy, and Erin McGowan were awarded $30,000 for their application entitled “Assessing preconception cardiometabolic health in women seeking fertility services” and we wish them every success with this exciting project.

2020 Competition

The Faculty of Medicine is pleased to announce that the successful recipient of the inaugural Dean of Medicine Collaborative Clinical and non-Clinical Research grant is Dr. Craig Moore (NPI). Drs. Craig Moore, Fraser Clift, and Mark Stefanelli were awarded $30,000 for their application entitled "Evaluating, Monitoring, and Phenotyping Immune Cell Subsets in Cerebrospinal Fluid of Multiple Sclerosis Patients" and we wish them every success with this endeavour.
