Physician Shadowing
What is Physician Shadowing?
Shadowing is an opportunity for Pre-Clerkship learners to get exposure to different specialties. Participants may spend time with physicians in a variety of settings. Physician Shadowing can help with career decision-making, networking, and gaining comfort in the clinical setting.
During Phase 1, learners will participate in a Physician Shadowing Program Orientation session.
Learners, Faculty and Staff are encouraged to read our Shadowing Policy found here.
Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic
- As a result of the pandemic, opportunities for clinical chadowing experiences may be impacted by public health regulations. Your Shadowing Program Class Representative will keep you up to date regarding suspensions of the program as they arise.
- Requirements for physical distancing may result in limitations with respect to the number of learners that may be accommodated within a clinical learning environment. Students should anticipate this and work with their assigned shadowing preceptor to explore alternative options for career mentorship, such as virtual shadowing or teaching activities in lieu of clinical site experiences when required.
