Brian Metcalfe

Dr. Metcalfe completed his undergraduate medical education at Memorial University in 2008, followed by a Family Medicine residency and a subsequent Emergency Medicine residency in 2011.
Currently practicing as a tertiary care Emergency Physician in St. John’s, Dr. Metcalfe also regularly provides locum emergency medicine coverage in rural Newfoundland and Labrador. He has a prehospital and medical transport practice, serving as the Provincial Medical Director for both MedFlight NL and the ground ambulance system of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Metcalfe is dedicated to advancing healthcare transformation and innovation, with a special interest in the intersection of prehospital care and traditional multidisciplinary healthcare teams. He enjoys leadership roles focused on fostering collaboration and enhancing care delivery.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Metcalfe is passionate about medical education. He is actively engaged in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and educational leadership and serves as the Clinical Discipline Coordinator for Emergency Medicine at Memorial University.
