CPSNL
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
All learners must apply for education registration in order to have their name placed on the Education Register of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (the College).
Using the email address provided on your CaRMS application, the College will email you a list of required items, including an individual username and password for their online application.
Due to this year's compressed timelines, it is imperative that applications and all supporting documentation be submitted to the College as soon as possible. To facilitate your registration it is recommended you take care of the following immediately:
- Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Professional Liability/Medical Protective Coverage (CMPA)
- Notarization of MD Diploma (upon receipt)
As the start of residency training is contingent on registration with the College, individuals who have an incomplete application as of Friday, June 20, may not be permitted to start training on July 1.
International medical graduates are reminded that registration with the College also requires document source verification via physiciansapply.ca. As this process can take several weeks to complete, you should initiate document source verification as soon as possible.
The College will communicate the Registration and Licensing process to all residents via email. This information will include all requirements to obtain a Postgraduate Training Program Licence and Postgraduate Registration, including providing access to the College's postgraduate application. Postgraduate Learners do NOT apply for Registration and Licensing via physiciansapply.ca.
If for some reason you are deemed ineligible for the College's Education Register, your position in postgraduate medical education at Memorial University will be revoked.
