Elaine Xie

Dr. Elaine Xie joined the Discipline of Family Medicine as an Assistant Professor in September 2022. She is currently based at the Family Practice Unit in St. John’s. Her clinical practice includes low-risk obstetrics with the Family Center Maternity Care (FCMC) team, inner city medicine at Choices for Youth, and full-spectrum family medicine at the Family Practice Unit.
Elaine completed a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacology at McGill University (2009-2013), and her medical training at Queen’s Medical School (2013-2017). She completed her family medicine residency at the Michael Garron Hospital through the University of Toronto (2017-2019), and went on to complete a fellowship in low-risk OB at the Scarborough General Hospital, as well as in Adolescent Medicine through the University of Toronto (2019-2020).
Elaine is currently the Team 2 clinical lead at the MUN Family Practice Unit. She also sits on the Curriculum committee for the Family Medicine Residency Program. She is involved with Family Medicine admissions, as well as with the Care of the Underserved PGY3 program. Elaine works closely with undergraduate and post-graduate learners. She enjoys teaching clinical skills to undergraduate medical students.
Her clinical interests are well-reflected in her clinical practice and include newborn and maternity care, care of vulnerable populations, and adolescent medicine.
