Dr Rose was born in Newfoundland. He graduated from Memorial Medical School in 1981.

He then completed his internal medicine and cardiology residencies at Queen’s University. Subsequently he completed an interventional cardiology/research fellowship at the University of Florida.

He returned to Eastern Health in 1987 where he works as a clinical/interventional cardiologist in association with Memorial University Medical School. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and just finished his second term as Chief of the Cardiac Care Program. (June 2009 –May 2015). He has held many prior positions including Coordinator of Cardiovascular Research and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. He has served as President of Medical Staff at Eastern Health.

He is a member of many medical associations and has held various executive positions including with The Canadian Association of Interventional Cardiologists, Atlantic Cardiovascular Society, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association.

He recently completed the Physician and Leadership Program at Memorial’s Faculty of Business Administration.

His latest appointment is as Governor of the American College of Cardiology representing the Atlantic Provinces Chapter. (2016 – 2019)

For many years he has been active in research. Areas of interest include research in Acute Coronary Syndromes and Interventional Cardiology. He has numerous publications (more than 60) in peer reviewed journals, as well as book chapters in major texts.

He has received awards for teaching, and continues to do so at the university, medical school, within the community and at major meetings across the country.
