David Bradbury-Squires
Assistant Professor MD MSc CCFP(EM)Family Medicine | Cross Appointed to Emergency Medicine
David is a Family and Emergency Medicine physician in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and has been in practice since 2020. He loves living and working in rural NL with his wife Christy, toddler Mae, and their loyal pug, Charlie. David loves to enjoy the rugged Central Newfoundland outdoors through cycling, hiking, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling.
David completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) in 2011 and a Master of Science (Kinesiology) in Work and Exercise Physiology in 2013, both at Memorial. David completed his medical training at Memorial in 2017, followed by residencies in Family Medicine (CenFam, 2017-2019) and Enhanced Skills in Emergency Medicine (2019-2020).
David started as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Disciplines of Family and Emergency Medicine in 2020. In 2023, David was appointed an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine and retains a cross-appointment with the Discipline of Emergency Medicine.
David has several administrative roles within the Faculty of Medicine. David has been Stream Lead for the CenFam stream since 2021, and was the physician lead for the Office of Distributed Medical Education from 2021-2023. He sits on the Admissions, Curriculum Redesign, and Residency Program Committees for Family Medicine. David also sits on the Residency Program Committee for Enhanced Skills in Emergency Medicine program, and is the preceptor for the rural community rotation in Grand Falls-Windsor.
David is an active member of several physician organizations, including the Canadian College of Family Physicians (Complex System Navigator for Memorial University in postgraduate Family Medicine curriculum reform), SRPC (former Chair and now member of the Research Committee, member of the NL committee), and CAEP (Rural, Remote, and Small Urban Committee).
David is a preceptor for learners at all levels of undergraduate medical education, as well as Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residents. His clinical and research interests include rural medicine, medical education, and point of care ultrasound.
In 2022, David was awarded the a "Emergency Physician of the Year" award by CAEP.
