Orientation

Orientation Week consists of a series of presentations and activities that occur the week before classes commence. Many of these sessions are mandatory as they provide essential information regarding resources, policies, important deadlines, and necessary preparations before starting classes. Additionally, the week is dedicated to fostering social connections, allowing you to meet and interact with your classmates.

White Coat

At the White Coat Ceremony, incoming medical learners are invited to engage in the presentation of their first White Coat and join in reciting the Hippocratic Oath. Traditionally held in September, this event serves as a celebratory welcome for the incoming class to the medical profession, providing an opportunity to reflect on the journey that brought them to medical school.

Shingles Night

The Shingles and Convocation is a celebratory event for the graduating class held on the evening of their convocation date. The ceremony includes the presentation of Shingles, which are wooden name plates, as well as awards, and the class reciting the Declaration of Geneva. This is a celebratory event for the graduating class as they embark on their residency programs, providing an opportunity to reflect on their medical school journey.

Medical Student Research Forum

The Medical Student Research Forum is a competition where medical students showcase their research conducted at Memorial University during the UGME curriculum and are judged by a panel of medical faculty. This annual event serves as a platform for students to gain experience in presenting their work, receive feedback, and network with others in the medical community.
