Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music Pilot Admission Process - effective Fall 2025

The School of Fine Arts and the School of Music are expanding admissions requirements to acknowledge and celebrate the variety of skillsets, learning styles, and outlooks, a student includes in their application. These Schools have developed a pilot admissions process to welcome talented students from a variety of backgrounds who don’t meet the current general admissions requirements.

The pilot includes the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting Stream and Technical Theatre stream), and Bachelor of Music.

The Joint Degrees of Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Commerce is excluded from the pilot. At this time, international applicants will not be considered for this pilot.

Students considered as part of this pilot must still complete the additional application requirements (audition, interview, portfolio, etc.) for consideration for competitive entry into the School of Fine Arts or the School of Music.

Do I need to indicate that I wish to be considered for the pilot?

No. Applications are automatically considered as a part of this pilot if they do not meet the general admissions criteria.

What programs are a part of this pilot?

This pilot includes the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting Stream and Technical Theatre stream), and Bachelor of Music.

Is the Joint Degrees of Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Commerce a part of this pilot?

No.

Can international students avail of this pilot?

At this time international students will not be considered for this pilot.

What is the length of the pilot process?

This pilot is in effect for the 2025-2028 admissions cycles.

Are entrance scholarships impacted if I am considered a part of this pilot?

No. Applicants considered for admission under this pilot will be evaluated for entrance scholarships under the same criteria as all other applicants to Memorial University. 

If I am accepted through this pilot but later wish to change my major, can I?

Yes. The process of changing majors for students via this pilot is currently being developed. Please reach out to the registrar office for more information.
