What actually is a “Dean”?

Think of the Dean as the leader and champion of the School of Arts and Social Science. While your professors look after your specific classes, the Dean looks after the big picture—ensuring our programs are top-tier, supporting faculty, and making sure you have the resources, community, and support you need to succeed at Grenfell.

When should I contact the Dean’s Office?

Most of your day-to-day questions will be answered by your professors or academic advisors. However, you should reach out to the Dean's Office if you need help with high-level academic steps, such as:

• Resolving a complex issue or academic appeal that you haven't been able to settle with your instructor or program chair.
• Sharing feedback, big ideas, or celebrating a major student success story within SASS!
