Research Interests

An enduring interest in the contested meanings of work and labour in isolated and marginal communities led to studies on northern Ontario Treeplanters, Hiomeless Youth in downtown Toronto, and illegal marijuana growers in British Columbia. Since the COVID19 pandemic my work has concentrated on conspiracy theories with publication such as:

Bodner et al. COVID-19 Conspiracy Theories: QAnon, 5G, the New World Order and Other Viral Ideas.

Bodner, John. “Rumpelstiltskin, Kung Fu Panda, Jacques Derrida, and Conspiracy Theory: The Role and Function of Secrecy in Conspiracy Narrative and Practice.” Humanities (Basel) [Basel], vol. 13, no. 1, 2024, p. 10, https://doi.org/10.3390/h13010010.

Other specializations and interests include:  qualitative research methods and ethics; graphic novels & comic books
