Grenfell Science Tricks and Treats - It's back!

Once again this year, "trick-or-treat" will take on a whole new meaning at Grenfell Campus.
Grenfell’s School of Science and the Environment, along with Let’s Talk Science, will be offering children an evening of fun science activities.
While on campus, children and their parents/guardians will be invited to “trick-or-treat” among 12 hands-on science stations. Children can also watch the "Potion Commotion" chemistry demonstration and participate in the "Defying Gravity" science quiz show. At the end, kids get a loot bag of candy to take home. The event is targeted at children aged 6 to 12, but younger siblings are welcome.
“This event is about making science fun, interesting and accessible to children," said co-organizer Dr. Erin Fraser, a professor in Environmental Science. "It’s also an opportunity to showcase the wide range of scientific disciplines and research happening at Grenfell Campus.”
This year's stations include some returning favourites and some new activities: kids will be powering a computer-simulated Frankenstein, making their own spy-themed decoder, entering a paper airplane contest, and much more.
"We have been thrilled with the turnout every time we've hosted Tricks & Treats," said co-organizer Dr. Rebecca Milley, a professor in Grenfell's mathematics program. "It's always a magical evening, with so much excitement from the kids and so much enthusiasm from our student, staff, and faculty volunteers."
The free drop-in event will take place Saturday, October 25 from 6-9 p.m. in the Arts and Science Extension Atrium at Grenfell Campus. Parking on campus in all P2 lots will be free. All are welcome to the event, and costumes are encouraged, but not required. Food and monetary donations to the Grenfell student food bank will be accepted.
