Grenfell Planned Network Outage
Updated: June 21, 2024
Campus-wide network outage and infrastructure upgrade
Grenfell Campus is experiencing a campus-wide network outage and infrastructure upgrade from June 15-30, 2024. The outage is required to make repairs and upgrades in relation to the cyber security incident that occurred in December 2023.
Wi-fi has been restored in many areas, although there are still expected to be interruptions in service. Campus computers cannot be used. Campus phones will not be functional; a main campus phone number will be provided, and some key phone numbers will be forwarded.
During this time, Grenfell faculty and staff will be accessible by email. Key services, like the Registrar’s Office, Student Housing, Conference Services/Summer Accommodations, Bursar’s Office, Library and Campus Enforcement and Patrol, will be open for in-person services, although their hours of operation may be altered for this two-week period.
Access to office computers will be disrupted. The use of any cloud-based software (including MyMUN, StarRez and Brightspace) will not be impacted.
ITS employees will be unavailable for regular duties during the two-week outage. Any inquiry must go through the Service Desk (gcits@mun.ca).
