This focus area helps students learn about best practices in human resources management, and prepares them for all aspects of the employment relationship.

It empowers students with the leadership, teamwork, communication and strategic planning skills necessary for a successful career in human resources management.

Students should consider the following elective courses, which are typically offered at least every two years:

*This is a core course for students in the pre-2022 programs and an elective for students in the post-2022 programs.

Career pathways

Undergraduate students who complete Business 5320: Human Resource Management Training and Business 5325: Seminar in Human Resources Management, and who earn an overall average of 70 per cent in their program, may apply to waive the national entry exam from CPHR Canada towards becoming a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR). They may also be exempted from other preparatory courses towards this professional designation.
