Bachelor of commerce (co-operative) (B.Comm.(Co-op.))

The bachelor of commerce (co-operative) (B.Comm.(Co-op.)) is a five-year, full-time, structured program. It consists of 135 specified credit hours (45 courses) over nine academic terms, in addition to three work terms, equating to 12 months of work experience.

The B.Comm. (Co-op.) program worksheet serves as a tracking and planning tool for the program. Students should become familiar with the graduation requirements found in the University Calendar to ensure they are met before applying to graduate.

Program structure:

Students enrolled in the B.Comm.(Co-op.) prior to Fall 2022 may complete their program with the following structure:

Students normally take the following courses in first year:

*Students who complete Mathematics 1000 in the fall semester will complete
a non-business elective in the winter semester.

**These courses may be taken in any order in either semester.

***Business 1000 may be taken in either semester.

To be promoted from each of Terms 1 through 7, the requirements are a passing grade in at least 12 credit hours and an overall average of at least 60 per cent in those courses required in each academic term. Students must also achieve a pass or pass with distinction on all three work terms.

Minors:

The B.Comm.(Co-op.) may be customized further by pursuing a minor from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Science or School of Music. Certificates from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences may also be completed as an added credential.

Advanced standing:

Current Memorial students may apply for admission with advanced standing in terms beyond Term A/B in the pre-2022 B.Comm.(Co-op.) program. Students must have completed all of the courses required for the program up to that term, including those in Term A/B, with grades at least as high as those required to meet promotion requirements.

The deadlines to apply for advanced standing are:

  • Term 2 in Winter 2023: Oct. 1, 2022 (extended to Dec. 1, 2022)
  • Term 4 in Spring 2023: Feb. 1, 2023 (extended to March 1, 2023)
  • Term 3 in Fall 2023: June 1, 2023
