Admissions
Students interested in completing an undergraduate business degree at Memorial must first apply to Business One, a common first year for all business students.
Once Business One is completed, students must then apply for entry into either our bachelor of commerce (B.Comm.) or bachelor of commerce (co-operative) (B.Comm. (Co-op.)) programs.
Business One
The video below provides step-by-step instructions on applying for Business One:
Bachelor of commerce (B.Comm.)
To apply for the B.Comm. program, you will need to apply as a “Current Memorial student” on the university application for admission. Ensure you select the appropriate entry term and select “Bachelor of commerce – Beyond Business One” as your academic program.
Application deadlines:
- May 15: fall admission
- Nov. 1: winter admission
- March 1: spring admission
All application deadlines are strictly enforced. Late applications will typically not be accepted.
Bachelor of commerce (co-operative) (B.Comm. (Co-op.))
To apply for the B.Comm.(Co-op.) program, you will need to apply as a “Current Memorial student” on the university application for admission. Ensure you select the appropriate entry term (Fall for Term 1 or Winter for Term 2) and select “Bachelor of commerce (Co-operative) – Beyond Business One” as your academic program.
Application deadlines:
- May 15: fall admission - Term 1 and Term 3 only
- Nov. 1: winter admission - Term 2 only
- March 1: spring admission – readmission only
All application deadlines are strictly enforced. Late applications will typically not be accepted.
B.Comm. and B.Comm. (Co-op.) admission requirements
Students who have completed Business One and are ready to apply for either the B.Comm. or B.Comm. (Co-op.) must:
- be declared as a Business One student; and
- have completed all Business One courses with an overall average of at least 65 per cent and an average of at least 60 per cent over the last 30 credit hours completed.*
Students applying to the B.Comm. (Co-op.) must have a term of five, which demonstrates they have successfully completed five courses in one semester.
Both the B.Comm. and B.Comm.(Co-op.) are competitive. Meeting the minimum admission requirements doesn’t guarantee you’ll be accepted into a program.
* Note about terminology:
Overall average in Business One courses means an average of 65 per cent on the 10 required courses, not 65 per cent in each course. You can calculate this average by adding up all of your Business One course grades and dividing by 10.
If you have a PAS or transfer credit (T) used within your Business One courses, don’t include these when calculating your average. Instead, divide the number of courses with numerical grades to calculate your Business One overage average.
The average over the last 30 credit hours (CH) is calculated as the last 10 courses completed (if all 3 CH courses). If any courses are repeated only the highest grade will count and an additional course will be included to add to the 30 CH.
