Nathan Young
Portfolio manager
Nathan Young is an enthusiastic investor and curious student of capital markets who’s currently completing his final year of the joint degrees of bachelor of commerce (co-operative) and bachelor of arts (economics). He currently serves as a Portfolio Manager on The Fund.
Since joining The Fund as an Analyst in 2020, Nathan has assumed progressively more responsibility while contributing to the program’s growth. He has led initiatives ranging from portfolio management, financial modeling, and investment charter revisions to recruitment, training, and industry mentor outreach. Nathan became The Fund’s youngest-appointed Portfolio Manager in 2022.
Through The Fund, Nathan began working with Toronto-based merchant bank, SagePoint Capital Partners, where he continues to gain experience working closely with public and private issuers on a variety of capital market functions including investment management, corporate development, equity and debt financing, IPO advisory, and more.
Nathan’s pursuit of high performance extends to all areas of his life. As a competitive curler, he represented Newfoundland and Labrador with his teammates at the 2022 and 2023 Tim Hortons Brier and earned a gold medal representing Team Canada at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland. He’s also active in the community, serving as President of the St. John’s Curling Club and working with groups such as the Premier’s Youth Council, 2025 Canada Games Youth Advisory Committee, and City of St. John’s Youth Engagement Working Group.
Nathan’s post-graduation vision is to become a Chartered Financial Analyst and pursue a capital markets career in Toronto.
