Personal Profile
Prof. Pauline Downer completed a bachelor of commerce (honours) at Memorial University of Newfoundland and successfully completed her chartered accounting designation while articling at Ernst & Young. She then completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountant’s in-depth tax program and in 1998 graduated from Memorial with her master of business administration (MBA) degree. Prof. Downer was awarded the university’s gold medal for academic excellence in an all-course master’s program.
Her research interests include the areas of taxation, governance of accounting organizations, small business and MBA education, particularly accounting education in MBA programs.
Prof. Downer is chair of the Faculty of Business Administration teaching committee and a member of the promotions and tenure committee for 2012/2013. She also serves as chair of the Institute’s Complaints Authorization Committee.
