Abstract
In today’s technologically surrounded world, it is extremely important to keep up the pace with innovations and modification. Every other morning, we hear news of companies moving to cloud of any of these giants: AWS, Azure or IBM. When a companymoves to cloud, it does not mean that the resources they had earlier were insufficient, also moving to a cloud does not mean that the company is compromising computing power with security. Moving to a cloud from on premises infrastructure has many advantages. E.g., Elasticity of resources (extra computing resources can be availed to an infrastructure as per the requirement, which is highly cost efficient). Add on services (Analytics services, server maintenance, license upgrade etc.). 100% backup availability. 99.99% uptime of the system and so on.
Using cloud for a whole enterprise is still a new concept, and because it is not widely used, enterprises are in no rush to move to the cloud without testing. This project is about moving research environment of Computer Science department hypothetically on IBM Cloud and perform testing for any flaws and to check if the requirements mentioned by Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) has been fulfilled or not.
In the end, will conclude that if moving to IBM Cloud is feasible/approachable or not, keeping legislative, security and technical tests results under consideration.
