Everything Science – Fall Orientation
Memorial University is the perfect place to embark on a scientific journey!
Get set up for success this September with Everything Science 2025 – your introduction to studying science at Memorial. This academic orientation will introduce you to the Dean of Science’s executive team, our departments, academic advisors, research opportunities, community partners, and student societies.
The Faculty of Science at Memorial University is home to nine departments covering a wide range of disciplines, with many specializations available. Our combination of course, lab work, field work, and research opportunities ensures our students are well prepared for whatever path they choose. Everything Science 2025 will give you the info, support, and connections you need to dive in and choose your next adventure.
Join us at the Field House on September 8, 2025 at 9:30 a.m to attend Memorial’s Welcome Ceremony, and to meet Dr. James Gauld, Dean of Science, and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies Dr. Travis Fridgen – and discover all the exciting ways to pursue science at Memorial!

Join the Faculty of Science at the Fall Welcome Ceremony event (Field House, 9:30 a.m.), to begin your academic journey with a welcome from Dr. James Gauld, Dean of Science, and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies Dr. Travis Fridgen. Once the Fall Welcome Ceremony has concluded, student leaders will help you make your way to the Core Science Facility (Whale Atrium) for Everything Science 2025 – your Academic Orientation! |

T-Shirt Pick-up and Lunch |

After your Welcome Ceremony and a short walk across campus to the beautiful Whale Atrium in the Core Science Facility, pick up your FREE Memorial Science T-shirt, and grab some lunch compliments of the Faculty of Science – celebrate and have some fun! Please bring your own water bottle – there are cooled and filtered |

Academic and Community Carnival |

The Academic and Community Carnival will give you the opportunity to chat with academic advisors, researchers, professors, and student society representatives from our nine academic units. We’ll also have fun exhibits like a touch tank from the Department of Ocean Sciences, an AR Sandbox created by faculty and students in Computer Science, and liquid nitrogen ice cream from Let’s Talk Science! |

Want to Volunteer?
Join us in welcoming new Science students this September!
We have started planning Everything Science 2025 , and we are looking for volunteers to help.
Everything Science, our Academic Orientation, will be taking place at the Works Field House and the Core Science Facility on September 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Some of the volunteer responsibilities would include:
- Escorting new students from the Works Field House to the Core Science Facility
- Helping with event set up at the Core Science Facility
- Serving lunch to new students
- Distributing t-shirts
- Encouraging engagement
