Federal government funding of $8 million for communication technology
A recently named Memorial University’s first Canada Excellence Research Chair, professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Trung Duong will develop communication technology.
Federal government funding of $8 million over eight years will support his research into what the wireless world could look like in years to come.
Octavia Dobre, professor and Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, added the Canada Excellence Research Chair attracts top international researchers from around the world, and Dr. Trung Duong was one of these researchers.
Trung Duong received his PhD degree in telecommunications systems from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2012. In 2013, he joined Queen’s University, Belfast, U.K., where he is an adjunct professor and a chair professor in telecommunications. He has received esteemed awards, including being named a Royal Academy of Engineering research chair and a Royal Academy of Engineering research fellowship. He is a world-renowned expert in wireless communications with more than 500 publications in this area.
