Safeguarding Research

Memorial is a place of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in all its forms. This work enriches the province, contributing to its long-term sustainability socially, culturally and economically while advancing our presence on the world stage.

As articulated in our Research Strategy 2023-28, Memorial supports and encourages local, national and international research collaborations.

On May 1, 2024, all applications to the Canadian Tri-Councils — the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) — and the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) will include an attestation document on Research Security. This requirement is in keeping the Federal Government’s 2024 policy.

The policy will apply to all programs and applications regardless of whether the applications are submitted by the individual faculty member, their academic unit or by the institution. The following information is provided to help faculty and staff better understand the new Research Security requirements.
