New Frontiers in Research Fund webinars

Researchers who are considering applying to the federal government’s New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) 2019 Exploration Competition are encouraged to attend a pair of upcoming webinars to learn more about the program.

The Exploration Competition launched on July 3. All competition documents are available on the NFRF website. New this year, researchers at all career stages are invited to apply to the program.

The webinars will take place on:

  • Tuesday, July 9 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.; and
  • Wednesday, July 17 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Both sessions will take place in room AA-1046 in the Arts and Administration Building on the St. John’s Campus.

According to the federal government, the fund will invest $275 million over the next 5 years beginning in fiscal 2018-19, and $65 million ongoing, to fund international, interdisciplinary, fast-breaking and high-risk research.

NFRF is administered by the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat, which is housed within the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), on behalf of Canada’s three research granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and SSHRC.
