Memorial Researcher Portal accepting Animal Use Protocol applications
As of March 31, the Institutional Animal Care Committee (IACC) will be accepting Animal Use Protocol applications on the Memorial Researcher Portal. IACC is Memorial’s regulatory committee responsible for the ethical assessment of all protocols for animal care and use in research and teaching. In addition, researchers who hold existing animal protocols will also be able to submit Annual Reports, Incident Reports, as well as Administrative and Procedural Amendments through the Portal.
Transition period
There will be a transition period of six months (up to September 2016) to allow for training of all users. Until that time, the forms on the Animal Care Services website will be accepted but use of the Memorial Researcher Portal is encouraged.
Registering for a Memorial Researcher Portal account
Researchers, staff and graduate students can register for an account on the Memorial Researcher Portal Support site.
Training
Memorial Researcher Portal training materials such as videos and manuals will be available on the Memorial Researcher Portal Support site as of March 30. Nic Fairbridge, Animal Care Committee Coordinator, is available to all researchers to assist in the new application process. He will be offering information sessions per department or as one-on-one meetings. He can be reached via email at nfairbridge@mun.ca.
