2SLGBTQ+ Inclusion at Memorial University
Join inclusion professional Tj Jones in a discussion on 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion at Memorial on March 31, Trans Day of Visibility.
This presentation and surrounding discussion looks to educate on 2SLGBTQ+ experiences in the work place, how best to facilitate inclusion of queer and trans workers, and the initiatives that can help strengthen our institutional environment and make it a safer space for all 2SLGBTQ+ people.
The session will take place virtually from 1-2:30 pm.
The session is open to staff, faculty, students, and community members. This will include a presentation from Tj Jones as well as a discussion period. Please see the following link for registration: https://event-wizard.com/2SLGBTQInclusionMemorial/0/register/
Please contact Nic Kuzmochka (n.kuzmochka@mun.ca) with any questions regarding the session.
Motivated by his own experiences as a queer and trans human, Tj’s worked to improve community capacity to serve 2SLGBTQ+ folks for the last 8 years through non-profit work, training development and delivery for service providers and students, and the sharing of his perspective at local and national tables.
He understands how potential perceptions of “employability” and balancing access with safety can create extra barriers for queer and trans folks when trying to find and keep employment; currently accomplishing a lifelong dream of launching his own consultancy, Tj aims to support decision makers in developing organizational culture and practices that meaningfully include 2SLGBT+ members, workers, and customers.
