Join us on Friday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. for the 2024 David Hawkins Lectureship, taking place in room 5M-101 in the Faculty of Medicine, St. John's Campus.
Dr. Johanne Martel-Pelletier, a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Montreal, will deliver the lecture, Artificial Intelligence prediction models/tools for early diagnosis and prognosis to optimize personalized patient management of the rheumatic disease - osteoarthritis.
Dr. Martel-Pelletier is co-head and chair in osteoarthritis, and co-director of the Osteoarthritis Research Unit with Professor Jean-Pierre Pelletier.
Her research interests focus on the mechanisms involved in the study and causes of the rheumatic disease -- osteoarthritis -- and targeting new therapeutic strategies for its treatment. Dr. Martel-Pelletier's work is widely published in high-impact journals, and she is the recipient of nine distinguished national and international scientific awards honouring the excellence and outstanding achievements of her research.
Her achievements have led to many historical studies, making significant breakthroughs and discoveries possible.
She has also developed systems and models for precision medicine for osteoarthritis.
Her recent works involve the machine/deep learning development of models for the early prediction of structural osteoarthritis progressors.
