Personal Profile
I have been with Memorial University since 1990 and am a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. I was educated at Memorial University of Newfoundland (B.Sc.Honours, Mathematics) and at the University of Waterloo (M.A.Sc. and PhD, Systems Design Engineering).
In addition to my years as a faculty member at Memorial University, I worked for three years with Bell-Northern Research in Ottawa, and for two years with INRS-Télécommunications of the University of Québec in Verdun. From 2004-2009 I held the NSERC/Petro-Canada Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, Atlantic Region (CWSEA) at Memorial University.
Since 2010 I have developed the MetaKettle Project at Memorial University as a legacy project of the CWSEA to develop and implement new and integrative methods for engineering and science education. My research interests include nonlinear signal and image processing methods, signal representations, human visual perception, radar signal processing, transformative pedagogy for science and engineering, and gender and science studies.
