Personal Profile
I obtained B. Tech. and M. Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and Bombay, India respectively. I received my PhD degree from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton.
Prior to joining Memorial University, I was a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay. I was one of the first recipients of the 'Young Scientist' award by the Government of India. Under this award I spent six months as a visiting scholar at the University of Washington, Seattle.
My teaching activities focus on electrical machines and power systems. I have supervised a number of graduate students with support from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada as well as from Memorial University. I am also a registered professional engineer in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Research Highlights
Some of my recent research (with Graduate students) include dynamic state estimation in power systems, measurement-based power system small signal stability analysis and power system stability enhancement using reinforcement learning.
