Personal Profile

Dr. Abbas Mamudu is an experienced researcher with several published articles in peer-review top-tier journals and with multiple years of experience in industrial and academic environments. Dr. Mamudu got his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Benin in 2007 and 2014 respectively. He got his Ph.D. from the Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2022 where he graduated with 5 published articles, a GPA of 4.0 on scale of 4.0, and a Distinction in his Comprehensive Examination.

Prior to joining Memorial in 2024 as an Assistant Professor, Dr Mamudu served as the Quality Control Manager during his six years stint with Schneider and Schroeder Services (S&S) Limited, where he managed several process safety and risk-related problems, developed models for prediction of produced sand accumulation, led several wellhead operations, production optimization projects, and reservoir simulation; he also got multiple years of experience as an instructor in the EOR Recovery Research Group in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Benin where he led several research Projects. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Memorial University in the Department of Process Engineering from January 2022 to June 2023.
