Student Wins 2021 CMEA/ACME Kenneth Bray Undergraduate Essay Competition

Education student, Ryan Henwood's essay,  “How Can I Keep Them Singing? Exploring ‘Tumult and Strife’ in Adolescent Voice Change,” submitted to the 2021 CMEA/ACME Kenneth Bray Undergraduate Essay Competition has been awarded 1st Place! The prize comes with the opportunity to have the essay considered for publication in the journal, the Canadian Music Educator, and a cash prize of $250.00. Congratulations on this significant accomplishment!

The 20 submissions for this competition were blind reviewed. The jurors for the undergraduate competition were: Dr. Glen Gillis, University of Saskatchewan, Dr. John Vitale, Nipissing University, Dr. Julia Brook, Queen’s University, Dr. Tracy Wong, McMaster University, Dr. Anita Prest, University of Victoria, and Dr. Bina John, University of Toronto. These scholars have strong credentials and offered a considerable amount of time to reading and providing feedback for the student authors.
