INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT (BAND LEVEL 7)

Department of Computer Science

(Contractual Position to March 24, 2025)

DUTIES

The successful applicant will perform responsible work by assisting in the instruction of students, in the laboratory and/or tutorial portion of Undergraduate Computer Science courses. Duties include assisting in a structured laboratory environment for Computer Science core and non-core courses; assisting in the development of computer-aided instruction; assisting in the preparation of lab material; assisting in maintaining documentation; grading student work; holding regular office hours, including time in the Student Help Centre; assisting in the creation, modification, and/or updating of course Web/D2L pages; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (minimum 1 year) in assisting with the conduct of a Computer Science laboratory and/or tutorials; completion of an Undergraduate degree in Computer Science; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Extensive knowledge of topics in Logic and Discrete Mathematics, with application in Computer Science, is required (e.g., propositional and predicate logic, sets and other discrete structures, modular arithmetic, and basic counting). Knowledge of LINUX, Python, Java, C++, Assembly Language, algorithm development, and Windows in a networked PC environment is also required. Some knowledge of Verilog, HTML, XML, scripting languages, and MS-Office Suite would be considered an asset.

SALARY                       $59,901 - $70,273 per annum (CUPE 1615)
