INSTRUCTOR (BRIDGE WATCH)

School of Maritime Studies

Marine Institute 

Miawpukek First Nation, Conne River, NL 

(Contractual Position to June 16th, 2023)

 

 

DUTIES

The successful applicant will provide instruction in the Bridgewatch program located at the Miawpukek First Nation, Conne River, NL. Duties include developing course materials; evaluating student performance; providing feedback to students; providing practical, hands-on training in the rigging room facility and onboard the Marine Institute provided training vessel; and performing other related duties as required.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (5-10 years) as a ship’s officer in the marine transportation industry; possession of a Transport Canada certificate of competency at the Watch Keeping Mate level or higher; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Good oral and written communication skills are required.  Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level would be an asset. 

 

SALARY:       Commensurate with Marine Institute Instructors’ Collective Agreement (NAPE Local 7405)
