Travel Health Insurance

Effective April 1, 2026, Emergency Medical Travel Insurance for Memorial employees and retirees transitioned from Beneva (formerly SSQ) to Medavie Blue Cross. Medavie Blue Cross mailed new benefits cards for health, dental and travel to Memorial employees and retirees in March. If you have not received your new Blue Cross card please check, and update if necessary, the home address you have on file with Human Resources. To check and update your address on file, please follow the Instructions to update your address within Employee Self-ServiceIf you update your home address and need a replacement card sent to you, please submit a case in the HR Case Management channel in Employee Self-Service

Your new card is also available electronically through the Medavie Blue Cross website or app.

The coverage provided by Medavie Blue Cross will mirror the travel benefit offered by Beneva, ensuring no loss in benefits for employees and retirees.

For individuals travelling across the April 1 transition date (i.e. departing prior to April 1 but returning after April 1), there will be no gap in coverage:

  • Claims incurred on or before March 31, 2026, will be adjudicated by Beneva.
  • Claims incurred on or after April 1, 2026, will be adjudicated by Medavie Blue Cross.
