INSTRUCTOR 

School of Fisheries

Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University

             (1 Year Contract with Possibility of Extension) 


 
The School of Fisheries (SOF) delivers education and training programs to students interested in entering the aquaculture, fishing, environmental and food industries. Academic programs offered by the SOF range from short courses, to industry certifications, diplomas of technology, advanced diplomas, post-graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, master's and PhD degrees.

 

DUTIES

Duties include teaching, course development, and course renewal in various SOF programs at the diploma, undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering classroom, laboratory, online and field components of the respective courses and performing other related duties as required. They will also be involved in the curriculum development of new programs and courses within SOF. 

 

The scope of instruction will focus on, but not be limited to, the following subject areas: Marine Spatial Planning, Environmental Science and Fisheries Management. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Graduation with a master’s degree in Marine Spatial Planning or a related discipline with 3+ years relevant work experience in their field. Teaching experience in a post secondary environment and a post-graduate certificate in education will be considered assets. Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer skills are required. Proven leadership qualities and the ability to work with a motivated, multi-disciplinary team are also required.   This position may require travel within Newfoundland & Labrador and nationally.


SALARY:                      Commensurate with Marine Institute Instructors’ Collective Agreement (NAPE Local 7405)
