Volunteer Leave for 2025 Canada Summer Games
From Aug. 8–25, 2025, thousands of athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators will be welcomed to Memorial University's St. John's campus for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
As with any large undertaking, volunteers will be essential to the success of the 2025 Canada Games. In total, the 2025 Canada Games Host Society requires upwards of 5,000 volunteers to fill over 150 different roles in support of the planning and execution of the Games.
Memorial is pleased to support the 2025 Canada Games Host Society and its volunteer goals by providing eligible non-academic university employees with up to two days of volunteer leave to volunteer at the Games. Eligible employees are non-academic employees who are covered under the university’s benefits plan.
Volunteer leave can be taken in the 30 days prior to the commencement of the Games (July 9, 2025) until the day after the closing ceremony of the Games (Aug. 26, 2025).
Employees interested in utilizing volunteer leave will need to complete a volunteer leave application form (this form is available in the my.mun.ca portal under the Leave Forms tab). Once completed, the form will need to be submitted by the employee to their supervisor along with their proposed volunteer work schedule and confirmation of their approval as a volunteer with the Games (to apply with the Games, please click here).
Scheduling of volunteer leave must be discussed and agreed upon between the employee and their supervisor. The university will make best efforts to honor volunteer leave requests.
For detailed information on this opportunity, please review the Guidelines for Volunteer Leave for 2025 Canada Summer Games.
Other opportunities to support Memorial University-led activities during the 2025 Canada Games will be communicated in the spring.
