Recruiting for Diversity
In addition to posting all external staff positions to the Axis careers site on the Association for New Canadians webpage and the listserves with the Coalition of Persons with Disabilities, we are continually looking for new ways to recruit diverse candidates. Memorial is a large employer that seeks to hire candidates that have the skills and knowledge to productively engage in our diverse community.
Please contact the employment equity office if you have any other suggestions. We would love to hear from you!
Employment Equity and the Appointment of Canada Research Chairs
Canada Research Chairs Program has worked with Canadian Universities to ensure open and equitable recruitment practices in the appointment of Chair positions. Part of this process involves collecting information from the four targeted equity groups (women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities). The CRC Secretariat monitors Memorial’s success in achieving equity targets in its Chairs program. There is an expectation that we will undertake best efforts, in line with the MUN-MUNFA Collective Agreement, in the search for the best candidate.
