CLERK STENOGRAPHER III (BAND LEVEL 4)

School of Fisheries Marine Institute

(Contractual Position until March 31st, 2027)

            

The School of Fisheries (SOF) (www.mi.mun.ca/sof) is part of the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University which is Canada’s most comprehensive centre for education, training, applied research and industrial support for the ocean industries. The School of Fisheries (SOF) delivers education and training programs to students interested in entering the aquaculture, fishing, environmental and food industries. Academic programs offered by the School range from short courses, to industry certifications, diplomas of technology, joint diploma/bachelor degrees, advanced diplomas, post-graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, master's and PhD degrees. 

 

DUTIES

The successful applicant will perform advanced secretarial and general clerical work requiring initiative and judgement, with some administrative responsibility under the general supervision of the Head, School of Fisheries.  Duties include communicating information related to the Head’s Office; reviewing budget expenditure processing and maintaining budget records for all school accounts; providing administrative support for the activities of school faculty and staff; ensuring the efficient office operation of a multifaceted office area; screening visitors; arranging meetings; maintaining appointment schedules; taking minutes, maintaining and organizing filing system; liaising with the public and various government and non-government agencies; organizing internal communications, and promoting the activities of the school through social media channels; and performing other related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable experience (3-5 years) in responsible clerical and secretarial work; and graduation from a two-year secretarial science or office administration course.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  Strong organizational, communication and time management skills are required.  Proficiency in word processing and general office procedures is also required.

 

SALARY:                      $49,794 to $58,412 per annum (NAPE Local 7850)
