DUTIES
Working with the Discipline of Radiology Residency Research Director and the Chair of Radiology, the successful applicant will perform professional research work in support of research projects within the Discipline of Radiology. Duties include assisting with the processes for ethics applications to the Health Research Ethics Authority (HREA) as well as organizational approvals from Research Proposals Approval Committees (RPAC) and Newfoundland and Labrador Center for Health Information (NLCHI) as well as various other departmental approvals. The candidate may also be asked to assist with research protocol development and assisting with development of data analyses using both qualitative and quantitative research methods; providing organizational support and coordination to a variety of research projects as well as journal club and research day; assisting radiologists, radiology residents and medical students in the design and implementation of processes; providing advice on the development and evaluation of innovative research tools; liaising with Faculty of Medicine units, University departments and outside agencies; contributing to the development of online resources; maintaining databases related to research; and performing other related duties as required. There will also be the opportunity to collaborate with the research nurse coordinator in the development of Clinical Trials within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) in conducting research, preferably in a health sciences field; completion of most coursework towards a Master's degree in health sciences; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is required along with strong communication, organizational, and written skills. The ideal candidate must have experience with medical research in particular issues related to Ethics and Institutional approvals and be familiar with the Researcher Portal. Experience in writing for academic journals and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies as well as familiarity with statistical software packages such as SPSS or GraphPad would also be considered assets.
SALARY $61,099 – $71,679 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
