Psychology Department Colloquium
Monday 30 July: Dr. James Drover will be giving a Departmental colloquium entitled, "Cognitive and Visual Development, Applied Approaches" in SN-2105 at 2:00PM.
CFI Funding
Tuesday 3 July:
Dr. Aimée Surprenant and
Dr. Ian Neath were awarded $145,330 by the Canada Foundation for Innovation for their project "Cognitive Aging and Memory Laboratory (CAMEL)". The funds will be used to renovate lab space and create a state of the art testing facility for investigating cognitive processing in older adults.
Golf Champion
On Thursday 28 June, Dr. Carolyn Harley participated in the MUN Alumini Tournament at the Twin Rivers Golf Course. She won the Women's Championship.

National Teaching Award
Tuesday 15 May, 2007: Dr. Brent Snook's distance course Psychology 2150: Introduction to Forensic Psychology was the winner of the Excellence and Innovation in Instructional Design category at the 2007 CADE (Canadian Association for Distance Education) conference.
Eastwood named Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies
Tuesday 24 April 2007: Graduate student Joseph Eastwood has been named a Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies. This is awarded to recognize outstanding academic achievement throughout a graduate programme.

Friday 30 March, 2007: Scott Shaffer, UC Santa Cruz, will be giving a Departmental colloquium entitled "Environmental constraints on seabird lives: Low energy output in a fast moving world" in SN-2101 at 3:00PM. This talk will focus on studies of albatrosses from sub-Antarctic islands to the Hawaiian Islands to compare the foraging ecology and energetics of albatrosses and the evolution of their economical mode of flight and its impact on life history parameters.

Peterson named University Research Professor
Friday 18 August 2006: Dr. Carole Peterson has been named a University Research Professor. Only two faculty per year are given this designation, which is used to identify faculty with a consistently high level of scholarship and whose research is of a truly international nature. Dr. Robert Adamec and Dr. William Montevecchi are the other two University Research Professors in the department.
