At the end of each semester your academic status will be calculated, and your academic record will display one of the following:

Clear standing

Your semester average is 50% or higher or your cumulative average is 55% or higher.

Academic Warning

You will be given an Academic Warning the first time your semester average is below 50% or your cumulative average is below 55% and you were registered for at least nine credit hours as of the last day to add courses in the semester.

Required to withdraw

You will be required to withdraw from Memorial if your semester average is below 50% or your cumulative average is below 55% and you have already received your academic warning and you were registered for at least nine credit hours as of the last day to add courses in the semester.

Academic Criteria for Continuance

The Academic Criteria for Continuance will be applied at the end of each semester if you are registered with a course load of at least nine credit hours on the last day for adding courses in a semester or session, including if you later drop courses and change status to that of a part-time student.

Most academic units have separate promotion or advancement criteria for continuation in specific programs of study. You are advised to check the regulations of your academic unit for details. The appropriate committee on undergraduate studies may, at any time, require a student to withdraw for academic reasons.
