Effective Psychological Interventions Centre (EPI Centre)

What is the EPI Centre?

The Effective Psychological Interventions Centre (EPI Centre) is a place where people can get help with their mental health. It is a training clinic in which services are provided by students in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, or PsyD program, at Memorial University. PsyD Students are supervised by Psychologists registered in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The EPI Centre offers services at a lower cost for people who need psychological care.

The EPI Centre does not handle emergencies. If you are in a mental health crisis or feel like you are in danger, please get help right away.

  • Call or text 988 (National Suicide Crisis Helpline).
  • Call 811 for Healthline. They can connect you with the Mobile Response Crisis Team.
    • Call 911 if the Mobile Response Crisis Team is not available in your area (this is for places outside of St. John’s, Corner Brook or Labrador City).
  • Go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
    • If you are near the Health Sciences Centre at 300 Prince Philip Drive in St. John’s, you can go to the Psychiatric Assessment Unit (PAU), which is accessed by entering the main doors of the Mental Health and Addictions Centre (next to the HSC Emergency Department).

Because the EPI Centre is a place for students to learn and to offer affordable help, there are some rules about who can use the services. We apply these rules during our “screening” process to determine if you will be offered services at the EPI Centre.

Once you select a time, you will be brought to the sign-in page where you will select “Create account”.
