Taxi Service

Taxi service between St. John’s campus and the Department of Ocean Sciences guidelines.

The Department of Ocean Sciences has implemented a taxi service between St. John’s campus and the Department of Ocean Sciences. The pick up location for the taxi service is the Music Building and the drop off location is the University Centre. Pick up and drop off for the Department of Ocean Sciences is the main parking lot in front of the bus shelter.

To avail of the taxi service, the following procedure must be used:

  • All users must email ostransport@mun.ca for booking/scheduling purposes. 
  • If you will be using the taxi service, please email ostransport@mun.ca with your taxi service requirements by 12:00 p.m. every Friday for the upcoming week.
  • Based on the information received the appropriate number of taxis will be ordered by office staff to pick up the students registered for a specific ride. 
  • If you need to make a change (cancellation or addition) to the taxi rides you requested please email ostransport@mun.ca, by 12:00 p.m. the day before the change is needed.
  • Once the ride is complete one of the riders will need to complete a taxi slip that will include the rider's name, number of passengers in the vehicle (not including the driver), and the date and time of the ride. No payment is required of the riders. Billing for the service will be done directly with the department. 

The schedule and number of taxi runs for Monday-Friday is outlined below. Please note that as the semester progresses, this may change to better fit the needs of the users.

As per the current practice, the Department of Ocean Sciences will continue to offer one taxi ride to and from the University on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.  This is organized by the graduate students.

*In the event of a University closure the taxi service will be suspended until the University re-opens.
