Health and dental coverage for dependents over age 21
Dependant children between the ages of 21–24 are eligible for coverage under Memorial’s group insurance plan provided they are enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary program.
Coverage for over-age dependants ends each year on Aug. 31, unless confirmation of full-time student status is received.
If your dependant child is returning to school as a full-time student, you must notify Human Resources each August to ensure continued coverage for the upcoming school year. To notify, please retrieve the “Overage Dependant Enrollment Card” from the Human Resources channel in Employee Self-Service. Once complete, submit the card via HR Case Management (also in Employee Self-Service). Within HR Case Management, please select the category “Employee Request- Benefits”, subcategory “Group Insurance or Beneficiary Change”. Once your case is submitted, you will receive an email containing a link to upload your completed card.
If your child is no longer attending post-secondary school full-time and you wish to maintain family coverage (e.g., for a spouse and/or other dependants), no action is required.
If your child is no longer attending post-secondary school full-time and you wish to change your coverage from family to single, please complete and submit the Group Insurance Change Form.

- Unmarried; and
- Not employed in a regular full-time position
Different eligibility rules may apply for dependants who are medically or functionally impaired. Please refer to the FAQs below or contact Human Resources for more information.
