Registration holds and resolution
A registration hold will prevent you from registering for a course. If you have a registration hold, you may receive the following message (or similar):
You are not permitted to register in this semester. For further information, please contact the Registrar's Office.
Below are some of the most common registration holds that may prohibit you from being able to register for courses. In most cases there may be a course of action for you to take to resolve the issue.
Financial hold
Reason for hold
Overdue money owing on your student account
How to resolve the hold
Review your Financial Information within Memorial Self-Service. If you have money owing, you can make payment through a method outlined by the Cashier’s Office.
If you have financial questions about your account, contact the Cashier’s Office.
Academic Integrity module incomplete
Reason for hold
Academic Integrity (INTG 1000) module not successfully completed in Brightspace
How to resolve the hold
All undergraduate students new to Memorial must complete INTG 1000 before they can register for their second semester. The course material is available in Brightspace and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. The course is in two parts - Part A and Part B. Part B does not appear in Brightspace until after you have passed the Part A quiz.
If you successfully completed the module previously with a grade higher than 12/15, contact the Registrar’s Office to let us know the date and time you passed INTG 1000. You can check the timestamp of the quiz to confirm when you passed it.
If you are beyond your first semester, INTG 1000 will appear on your transcript/academic record as a completed course and you will be enrolled in the Integrity Archive site. If you see the INTG Archive site attached to your account in Brightspace, you have successfully completed the INTG requirement.
If you have questions regarding academic integrity, email: academicintegrity@mun.ca
Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention module incomplete
Reason for hold
Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention (SVM 0204) module not successfully completed within Brightspace.
How to resolve the hold
All undergraduate, graduate, and Marine Institute students new to Memorial must complete SVM 0204 before registering for their second semester. The course material is available in Brightspace and takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
If you have questions regarding sexual violence awareness and prevention, email: svprevention@mun.ca
Academic advising hold
Reason for hold
Undeclared students with 60 or more credit hours who have not met with an Academic Advisor to discuss academic plans.
How to resolve the hold
If you have 60 or more credit hours towards your first undergraduate degree and are not declared in a program, a registration hold will exist on your account until you gain admission to a degree program or meet with an academic advisor to discuss a plan.
Connect with an academic advisor to discuss your academic plan:
- St. John's Campus students can book an appointment with the Academic Advising Centre
- Grenfell Campus students can email gcacademicadvising@mun.ca
