More about MAPS
Accredited Co-op Program
Our program has maintained accreditation for the last 15 years and we are proud members of Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL Canada).
Community Engagement
An important part of our program is to partner with community organizations and the volunteer sector to contribute to their program development needs. We advertise each year for proposals via Memorial’s Yaffle site and the NL health network. All students in their senior year participate in a semester long project with a community partner who is selected from the proposals.
The work students undertake is dictated by the organizations’ needs but involves some aspect of program development or evaluation. These projects are completed pro bono and often leverage funding for organizations to continue their valuable work. They also provide practical experience for our students under the mentorship of our faculty. The program has now amassed a long list of organizations that have benefitted from our volunteer work.
Our Students are Winners
Our students independently participate in the Canadian Evaluation Society National Case Competition each year. A team from our program won the competition of more than 20 university teams across Canada in 2016 and teams have placed in the top three finalists eight times.
Our students have also won SSHRC fellowships, thesis awards and speaking competitions. Students have successfully completed independent consulting projects.
