Studying Psychology
Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and its biological basis. It seeks to understand the behaviour of living organisms through scientific research and to use the accumulated knowledge to promote the welfare of humans and other animals.
Memorial's psychology graduates have been successful in many fields of endeavour, including those that require an understanding of human behaviour in general (e.g., business, sales, management, information technology, government, human resources) and those that require specific training in psychology (e.g., programs in education, counselling, and clinical psychology). Many pursue graduate degrees (e.g., in law, medicine, neuroscience, animal behaviour, ecology, and experimental psychology), while others pursue training in a variety of programs that promote human welfare (e.g., physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy).
