Change of per diem rates for northern and international destinations
The Board of Regents, at a meeting held on Oct. 18, 2023, approved use of the Federal Treasury Board's National Joint Council travel allowances (appendix C) for travel to the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Alaska.
At the same time, the board also approved the use of the Federal Treasury Board's National Joint Council travel allowances (appendix D) for travel to international destinations.
Travel to Canada and the United States outside of these destinations follows the approved rates posted on the Department of Financial and Administrative Services website which aligns with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador rates.
This change was effective Oct. 18, 2023. Financial and Administrative Services will review all submitted claims for travel that occurred since this effective date and will reimburse at the new rates where applicable. Any travelers with preapproved Travel Request Forms for travel after Oct. 18 should have their forms re-approved with the applicable per diem rates prior to submission for reimbursement. Failure to do so may delay travel claim processing. Going forward, individuals should use these new rates for university travel since Oct. 18, 2023. Please direct any questions to travel@mun.ca.
