Wilderness Weekend is an annual event organized by the FMIG. Scenarios are organized in which medical students learn to respond to emergency situations with minimal preparation and equipment. Local high school students are recruited as volunteers. Scenarios are complete with props and make-up artists. Always a great time, it is an excellent opportunity for medical students to learn and practice first aid care in critical situations.

Wilderness Weekend 2019 took place from June14-16 at Camp Nor'Wes, located just east of Terra Nova Park, Northwest Pond NL. There were 31 learners in attendance, as well as family medicine residents and faculty members. It was a great success.
